Florian Schühle studied environmental engeneering at Berlin Institute of Technology. He did his bachelor thesis on the mitigation of gaseous nitrogen losses from soil, fertilized with human urine in 2016 at Leibnitz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ). In 2019 he completed his Master thesis on the degradation kinetics of dissolved organic carbons (DOC) in domestic gray water using a 6-staged Moving Bed Bio Reactor pilot plant at the engeneering office Nolde und Partner. From 2020 - 2023 he investigated the uptake behavior for volatile organic compounds (VOC) in diffusive samplers used in the German Environmental Survey, generating controlled test gas atmospheres and exposing + analysing the samplers via TD-GC-MS. In 2024 he found his way back to IGZ were he is currently entrusted with coordinating the citizen science project U-Cycle, were effect and acceptance of a urine based recycling fertilizer is investigated in cooperation with gardeners all over germany.
